Congratulations to our Fall 2021 CERT Basic graduates! We are looking forward to another class!
Communications networks, such as mobile phones and computers, could be unreliable during disasters, and electricity could be disrupted. Planning in advance will help ensure that all the members of your household - including children and people with disabilities and others with access and functional needs, as well as outside care givers - know how to reach each other and where to meet up in an emergency.
Every Californian, regardless of age, disability, income or language, should be prepared for emergencies and disasters - especially wildfires, earthquakes, and floods. LISTOS is a free, eight hour course, which teaches community members basic ideas about preparing for disasters in an interactive discussion learning environment. Participants will identify local hazards, develop a family emergency plan, make a disaster kit, learn how to shut off utilities and use a fire extinguisher, and more. The class is offered in English and Spanish.
The CERT Basic Training provides individuals who complete this course with the basic skills required to respond to their community’s immediate needs in the aftermath of a disaster, when emergency services are not immediately available. By working together, CERT volunteers can help save lives and protect property using the basic techniques in this course. The target audience for this course is individuals who desire the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and respond to a disaster.
In this class, the students will learn about:
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach
