The North San Luis Obispo County CERT program offers an 8 hour class on how to prepare for disasters. Students will learn about stocking food, water, and vital supplies, how to properly use a fire extinguisher, provide first aid, and more. The class is offered in Spanish, and the entire family is encouraged to attend.
Disasters happen every year in California - wildfires, floods, earthquakes, power outages, and more. In fact, California leads the nation in disasters. That's why it's important to prepare for them, and get the whole family involved.

Heat is one of the leading weather-related killers in the United States, resulting in hundreds of fatalities each year. Even with a short period of exposure, heat can be very taxing on the body. And some groups of people are more susceptible to heat illnesses. Learn how to prepare for extreme heat, protect yourself, and recognize the signs and symptoms of heat illness.
What would you do with your pet if you had to evacuate because of a wildfire, earthquake, flood, or other disaster? What if you are away from your pet when disaster strikes? Do you have a pet emergency kit and disaster preparedness plan? The North San Luis Obispo County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is offering a class where you can learn how to prepare your pets for disaster. Preparing before a disaster gives you the knowledge and confidence to better survive and recover from disasters.
The CERT Basic Training provides individuals who complete this course with the basic skills required to respond to their community’s immediate needs in the aftermath of a disaster, when emergency services are not immediately available. By working together, CERT volunteers can help save lives and protect property using the basic techniques in this course. The target audience for this course is individuals who desire the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and respond to a disaster. Our Fall 2023 class Will be in October, dates are Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings, October 17, 19, 24, 26 and all day Saturday, October 28.
